What You Need to Play BC2 Online

Before we jump in, make sure you have the following ready:

1. The Base Game: A legally installed copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on your PC (from Steam or the EA App).

2. An Internet Connection.

3. Project Rome: A tiny, free, and safe file created by the community that allows you to connect to the new private servers.

Step-by-Step Guide to Fixing Bad Company 2 Multiplayer

Step 1: Download the Project Rome Client

To connect to the new community servers, we need a special file that redirects the game away from the dead EA servers.

• Open Google and search for "Project Rome Venice Unleashed".

• Go to their official website and click on the Download button for the Bad Company 2 client.

• The file you download will be named dinput8.dll. (It is very small and downloads instantly).

Step 2: Find Your Game Folder

Next, you need to place that downloaded file right into your game folder. Here is how to find it:

• If you use Steam: Go to your Steam Library, right-click on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, select Manage, and click Browse local files.
