Battlefield 5 (BFV) is still one of the most beautiful and action-packed shooter games you can play today. But if you just bought the game and clicked the first "Play" button you saw, you might have had a bad time.
New players often run into two big problems: they get put into completely empty matches, or they join a game ruined by hackers. Do not worry! The game is very much alive with thousands of real players in the US, UK, and Europe.
You just need to know the correct way to find a safe, full match. Even if you are completely new to PC gaming, this simple step-by-step guide will show you exactly how to play Battlefield 5 multiplayer the right way.
What You Need
The Game: Battlefield 5 installed on your PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
(You do NOT need to download any extra files or mods!)
Step-by-Step Guide to Finding the Best BF5 Servers
Step 1: Never Click "Quick Match"
When you open the game and go to the Multiplayer screen, you will see large tiles suggesting you play Conquest or Breakthrough.
Do not click these! This is the automatic matchmaking system. It is broken and will often put you in empty games or official servers that have hackers.
Step 2: Open "Advanced Search" (The Server Browser)
Instead of letting the game guess where to put you, we are going to pick our own server.
Click on Play in the main menu.
Select Multiplayer.
Look at the bottom of the screen or the right side, and click on Advanced Search. (This is Battlefield 5's version of a server browser).
Step 3: Set Up Your Filters
Now you will see a list of servers, but we need to filter them so you get the best connection.
Click on Filter.
Free Slots: Choose None, 1-5, and 6-10. (Choosing "None" is very important because it shows you the full, popular servers).
Region: Choose your location. If you are in the US, select North America. If you are in the UK, select Europe. This keeps your internet connection fast.
Step 4: Look for "Community Games" (The Secret to No Hackers)
Official EA/DICE servers do not have active admins, which means cheaters can sometimes ruin the fun. The secret to enjoying Battlefield 5 today is playing on Community Games.
When looking at the server list, look for servers with custom names (for example: "[BOB] Classic Conquest" or "[AAA] No Hackers").
These are Community Games. They are run by real players (Admins) who actively kick out anyone who is cheating!
Look for a green connection bar (low ping) and a full player count (like 64/64).
Step 5: Join the Battle!
Once you find a good Community Game or a full official server with a low ping, just double-click it to join.
If the server says 64/64, you will be put in a small waiting line (queue). Just wait a minute or two, and you will get in!
